Keeping staging and set to a minimum, Brown uses little more than a couple of microphones, a chair, Martha Godfrey’s slick lighting design and a loop pedal to recount funny, painful, joyous and sad tales of growing up feeling both “too black and too white”.

I wanted to mix the feeling of a large scale musical and a small gig in a church. It was important to have the lighting feel like it responds to, and originates in, Koko's live vocal looping, always supporting it, but never pre-empting it.
